Man fatally shot in Hopewell

[Hopewell, VA] – On December 03, 2016 at approximately 2:09am, officers responded to the 2700 block of Oaklawn Boulevard in reference to reports of a subject that had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a single victim who had succumbed to his injuries. Members of the Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene and initiated a homicide investigation. The decedent has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for autopsy.

The identity of the decedent is not being released at this time pending notification of the next-of-kin. Further information/updates will be released as they become available.
