**Pharmacist thwarts Armed Robbery**

[Hopewell, VA] – On November 28, 2016, at approximately 11:54pm, officers responded to the Rite Aid located at 2305 Oaklawn Boulevard for an attempted Armed Robbery that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the lone offender entered the business, approached the pharmacist and asked for prescription Oxycodone. The pharmacist asked the subject for his prescription at which time the offender lifted his jacket and shirt revealing a handgun in his waistband and again requested Oxycodone. The pharmacist immediately picked up the phone and called police all the while disregarding commands from the offender that she stop. The offender then fled the business on foot emptyhanded.

 

The offender is described as a B/M, approximately 19-25 YOA, 5’8 to 5”9, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing tan in color khaki pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front over a white t-shirt, dark-colored shoes, sunglasses and in possession of a silver in color handgun.

 

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter.
